This is the website that kids and parents can use from BN or Books a Million or whatever. It is its own website now. They can also access it from the Parent Site.

Library Websites

Monday, July 13, 2009

I ran across this website while looking for other library websites. Our school does not currently have a library website, and I wanted to try and get one started this year. The site was designed as a webquest, but you can click on the links and just check out other library's websites.

Cute Library Furniture

I ordered some furniture at Highsmith (http://www.highsmith.com/), and I got to see it today. I was looking for some things that the kids could move around. They had some small, brightly colored, padded furniture that I think the kids will love. I think it is so important for them to feel comfortable. I just wish I could have ordered more. Let the fight for the furniture begin. Ugh!

You Probably Already Know But.....

Scholastic has a link that is specifically for librarians. I am not sure why there is not a link (or there may be now, but I did not see it) to the book talks and discussion guides that Scholastic has available on the teacher website, but there is a link to these big time savers on the librarian's website. Many of the teachers at our school did not realize that this great resource was available. Check it out!

Shamful Plug

The Council of U of A Research Libraries (CUARL) has put together a website for teachers and students that is full of AWESOME resources. One reason I like it though.....it does not have too many resources. I do not feel overwhelmed looking at this site. There is a teacher page and a student page. You can also search for resources by subject. I randomly ran across it and thought I would share.
